PBAT is a material designed for blow molding film.It has good elongation at break, heat resistance and high impact resistance.In addition, it has excellent biodegradability. PBAT blends with other polymers, such as PLA, thermoplastic starch, PCL and other materials. It can improve the mechanical properties of composite materials, effectively expand its application range, and improve the application of these materials in the field of green packaging.
However, the production of high-performance PBAT/PLA melt blends is technically challenging because the two polymers are not particularly compatible. Their incompatibility results in poor tensile properties of PBAT/PLA composites and prevents their application in applications where the composites may be subjected to mechanical stresses. In PBAT/PLA blends, solubility parameters of PBAT and PLA differ greatly, resulting in weak interface adhesion between components.Appropriate compatibilizer is needed to improve the performance of PBAT/PLA composite, which can improve the interface adhesion between PBAT and PLA during melt blending.
