Effect of Particle Size of Filler on Properties of PA6

2019.06.25

Polymer filled modified materialshave become more attractive as they can fix some defects of polymers, broaden the application scope and lower the cost of plastics. The addition of mineral fillers in plastic resins can improve the physical properties of plastics, such as mechanical strength, modulus and shrinkage size. Generally speaking, the mechanical properties of the filled polymer compositesdepend largely on the size, shape and distribution of the filled material in the matrix as well as the interface adhesion with the polymer.

In the case of polymer and glass fiber blends, physical properties vary depending on the use of glass fiber. Under the same process conditions, the small diameter of glass fiber is conducive to dispersion, high impact performance and good appearance. The manufacturers treat glass fiber surfaces with coupling agentsto improve their compatibility and dispersion of polymers, and thus improve the physical properties of the blends. Secondly, it is necessary to add a certain amount of grafted polymers to increase the compatibility with the substrate so as to improve the interface adhesion between the glass fiber and the substrate.
