Introduction of Long Carbon Chain Nylon

Nylon molecules with a carbon chain length of more than 10 are often referred to as long carbon chain nylon. In addition to the characteristics of general polyamides, this kind of nylon has many unique advantages, so it has been paid special attention by the industry. Such as: their relative density is very small, low water absorption, good dimensional stability, excellent chemical resistance, good electrical properties, corrosion resistance, wear resistance, particularly tough texture; fatigue resistance and low temperature resistance are very outstanding. In contrast, nylon-6 and nylon-66 have high water absorption due to the large proportion of hydrophilic amide groups in the molecule. For example, at 20°C and 65% relative humidity, the water absorption rate is as high as 3%-4%. If it is immersed in water at 20°C, the water absorption rate is as high as 9%-11%. After they absorb water, the size changes greatly, the rigidity decreases sharply, and the tensile and flexural strength sharply deteriorates the electrical properties, which greatly limits the application range. The emergence of long carbon chain nylon just makes up for these defects of nylon-6 and nylon-66.
