Introduction to Heat-Resisitant Nylon

Nylon can be roughly divided into aliphatic nylon, aliphatic-aromatic nylon (also called semi-aromatic nylon), and fully aromatic nylon. Aliphatic nylon has a small friction factor, good self-lubricity, the most applications, and the largest output. Commonly used are PA6, PA66, PA1010, etc., but most aliphatic nylons have the disadvantages of low glass transition temperature and low heat distortion temperature. As a result, its heat resistance is poor. Semi-aromatic nylon varieties mainly include PA6T, PA9T and MXD6, among which PA9T has the best overall performance. The main varieties of fully aromatic nylon are PPA, MPIA, PBA and so on. Aromatic nylon has the advantages of high melting point, high modulus, high strength, excellent heat resistance and mechanical properties. It is mainly used for the production of synthetic fibers, but its disadvantages are that it has a high melting point, is difficult to process, and has high production costs. As nylon is increasingly used in automotive, construction, military, aerospace and other fields, higher requirements for its heat resistance are put forward. Therefore, the development of nylon with high heat resistance is very important to expand its application fields.
