Graft copolymers are used as the third component to compatibilize incompatible blending systems, and extremely significant results have been achieved. It has many outstanding advantages of blending systems that have no application value. During the blending process of the incompatible blending system, the third component (that is, the compatibilizer) is dispersed on the polymer phase interface and acts as an "emulsifier" to reduce the tension of the two-phase interface of the blend and make The two phases of the polymer are better dispersed, and the morphology of the blend is more stable, preventing the blend from forming an anisotropic structure. As the phase interface of the blend is improved, stress transfer becomes easier. As a result, the mechanical properties of the blend are improved.

PVC and PP are incompatible, adding CPE has a better compatibilizing effect on the PVC/PP blend system. CPE reduces the particle size of the dispersed phase (PP) of the PVC/PP system, improves the uniformity of the distribution, and makes the interface between the two phases of PVC and PP more blurred. After adding CPE to the PVC/PP system, the tensile properties and impact properties of the blends are greatly improved. Because CPE is a kind of elastic material, CPE rubber can stop the cracks in time, and prevent them from becoming destructive cracks. The larger the proportion of CPE in the blend, the more effectively it can absorb energy, thereby greatly improving its impact performance. However, CPE is used as a compatibilizer for both PVC and PP at the same time. Only when the amount of CPE is appropriate can its synergistic effect be maximized.
