PC has the advantages of high impact strength, good creep resistance and dimensional stability, heat resistance, transparency, low water absorption, non-toxicity, and excellent dielectric properties. It is widely used in electronic and electrical, automotive industry, medical equipment, construction and lighting appliances, and many high-tech fields such as aviation, aerospace, electronic computers, optical fibers and other fields. However, PC also has disadvantages such as poor processing fluidity, easy stress cracking, sensitivity to notches, easy abrasion, poor chemical resistance, and high price. These shortcomings restrict its application in many fields. Therefore, the main purpose of modifying PC is to improve its performance and reduce production costs.
PC/PE alloy has excellent boiling water resistance, good heat aging resistance, easy forming, etc. Therefore, it is very meaningful to study PC/PE alloy with good compatibility, and it has a wide range of application prospects.
The addition of PS to PC can improve the temperature dependence of PC processing. Since the price of PS is lower than that of PC, PC/PS blending can improve and reduce costs.
The blending of PC and PET can not only retain the heat resistance of PC, but also improve the solvent resistance and stress cracking resistance of the blend; and improve the fluidity of the system. The PC/PET blend system is an amorphous/crystalline polymer system, and its performance is affected by the crystallization behavior of PET and the transesterification reaction between PET and PC.
