Unmodified polyphenylene ether resin has good mechanical properties, electrical properties, heat resistance, flame retardancy and chemical stability, but has poor solvent resistance, easy stress cracking of products, low notched impact strength and high melting point viscosity. Poor performance. People have modified it through physical and chemical methods to expand the use of polyphenylene ether.

 

Chemical modification: Modify the structure of PPO: bromination, phosphorylation, sulfonylation, carboxylation, etc. to improve the solubility and air permeability of PPO for film materials or to improve the flame retardancy of PPO for flame retardant materials.

 

Physical modification: It is mainly the development and application of PPO alloy. PPO has good compatibility with styrene. By using this feature, various alloys of PPO and polymers with styrene groups can be prepared. The other is blended with PA, PBT, PPS, etc. to prepare high-performance alloys. Compatible system: PPO / PS; Partially compatible system: PPO / PC, PPO / PPS, PPO / SEBS, PPO / SBS, PPO / ABS, PPO / PMMA, PPO / SAN; Non-compatible systems: PPO / PA, PPO / PET, PPO / PTFE, PPO / PO.
