Study on Degradable Mulch Film
2021.02.26
PE mulching film is extremely difficult to degrade under natural conditions. The residue in the soil will affect the soil structure and hinder the absorption of water and nutrients by crops. The continuous use of PE mulching film all year round will affect the crop yield. At the same time, due to the low cost of plastic film itself, low efficiency of recycling time and effort, farmers are not willing to recycle. In 2017, the recovery rate of plastic film in China is less than two-thirds, so it is difficult to recycle and reuse.
In recent years, with the continuous development of new material synthesis technology and the arrival of plastic ban, the development of biodegradable mulch film has attracted extensive attention from academia and industry.Biodegradable mulching film refers to a kind of plastic mulching film which is degraded by microorganisms in the soil to generate non-toxic small molecules (CO2 and H2O) in the natural environment and does not cause harm to the ecological environment.Previous studies have shown that biodegradable mulching film has similar functions to traditional PE mulching film, such as increasing temperature and retaining moisture, inhibiting weeds, and can completely solve the residual problem after the use of mulching film, so it is expected to replace PE mulching film to be widely used in the field of crop planting.
