Study on Modification of Biodegradable PBS Polyester
2021.01.18
The main chain of aliphatic polyester contains ester bonds that are easily hydrolyzed, and the main chain is flexible, and it is easily degraded by enzymes under the action of microorganisms. As an environmentally friendly material, it has become a hot spot in research and development worldwide. Polybutylene succinate (PBS), as a typical biodegradable aliphatic polyester, has excellent comprehensive properties. Compared with other biodegradable materials, PBS has excellent mechanical properties, good heat resistance, and a heat distortion temperature of nearly 100°C. It overcomes the shortcomings of other biodegradable plastics that are not heat resistant; it has very good processing performance and can be used in existing plastic processing general equipment The processing performance is the best among the existing degradable plastics.
Pure PBS has a highly hydrophobic chain structure, its crystallinity is as high as 40% to 60%, it lacks active sites and has a slow degradation rate, and its molding processability is difficult to meet the requirements of various applications. On the premise of ensuring the same mechanical properties as current plastics, control the biodegradation rate, improve biocompatibility, and improve thermal properties, so that PBS-based biodegradable materials can adapt to the degradation requirements of various application environments.
