Wood-plastic composite material is a new type of high-performance, high-value-added environmentally friendly material formed by the melting and compounding of wood fiber materials and thermoplastics. Its wide application provides an important way for the efficient use of waste plastics and wood fiber resources. However, “waste plastics are often mixed plastics composed of several non-polar polymers with different properties. The poor compatibility between components and between plastics and wood fiber materials results in low mechanical properties of wood-plastic composites.

 

The method of grafting maleic anhydride by melt reaction extrusion can not only give good compatibility between the plastic components, but also can significantly improve the interface between the plastic matrix and wood powder by grafting maleic anhydride. Compatibility, which significantly improves the mechanical properties of wood-plastic composites, can realize the regeneration and modification of mixed waste plastics and prepare high-performance wood-plastic composites, which is a feasible way for the efficient utilization of mixed waste plastics.
